I've tinkered playing a Rasvim but the areas where you get hit with magic, your toasted, how do the good players cope with this ? John.

Either invest in the alchemy skill to make superpowered resist magic potions and swig them before a fight, or invest in the enchant skill and bolster your armor with resist magic. That's what I did.

I prefer the latter, as you don't have to use a primary skill slot (though you can do environment magic to enchant, it's easier to do quickly with money).

Once you reach mid-level content, you will have magic resistance that ---> 100%, so that's only a worry at the start. Nevertheless, I would still advise having env. Magic as a skill, because you probably won't survive HOL3+ without the ability to max out the enchantments on the gear.

A misc. tip: potions of various levels stack.
Ex: drinking a small magic res potion and an ultimate magic res potion grants the effects of both.

I played through as a rasvim thief once. (Hardest character I've been yet) Just make sure to lvl Magic resistance and you'll do great.
