Motar and Pestle wear and tear

Is there a reason that mortar and pestle do not show wear? I would think that making potent magic potions would cause at least some wear, especially at the lower two mortar and pestle levels. Also if you are pushing the limit of your alchemy skill if you fail your mortar and pestle definitely should take damage and there should be some personal damage as well, in line with already posted warnings in some of the alchemy books that failed alchemy experiments can explode. My personal mortar and pestles for kitchen use don't show wear after long years of use, true, but cumin and such aren't going to explode either.
