Does my Alchemy skill go up with practice? Or is training the only way to increase my skill level?
I have made a lot of low level stuff and haven't seen any improvement yet.

The two most important ways you can improve your skills is to level up (you'll get 10 points to spend on your skills) and the trainers. You can also find books which'll give you extra skill points.
However, your three most used skills will improve a little on their own on level up, so practice is useful.
