Magic in high-level expansions fix

Postby Keizo » Mon Oct 03, 2016 12:30 pm

So I have not yet actually made it to the high level areas yet (though I do own them) but I have read quite a bit on how attack magic becomes useless due to enemy resistances. Well this idea just popped into my head which might help with that, and may already be a possibility as is or could be easily done with a little update. I also realize that the program/coding won't be changed but this is not a problem with this idea. Anyhow, in theory anyhow it is as simple as inflicting a certain disease and/or curse upon the enemy that has the effect of lowering intelligence and/or resist magic directly. This disease or curse could be enchantable and/or also available a spell one could use (probably a mind magic spell) that would have said debilitating effect on magic resistance hence solving the problem and making attack magic usable again! Thoughts? :o

Very interesting idea!
Rather than meticulously add many resistance lowering entries, we can add a debilitating disease...
Too bad a monster can't inherently have a disease or restricting ability, and disease resistance complicates things further. That's as far as extremely high-level expansions go.
It's a balance problem, we need any kind of monster have as little Int as possible for one. Magic is very good in Elemental Asteroids, Cursed Stone, Celtic Queen (highest level) and some other places, and we shall have it greatly effective in the Jade Dragon (new expansion in development)

Cool!
And upon thinking about it more it might not actually be as doable as it seemed at the time. Considering that before one could even cast their attack spell they would have to debilitate the enemy first, and at that point in the game one probably has gotten so strong they can slap the enemy silly before they even got to using the attack spell in the first place...and it would probably be too much of a hassle to have to go through a process of debuffing every single enemy just so you can use a magic attack...I suppose if I continued to overthink it I would come up with something but it is what it is and, well, it is what it is, lol.

Let's see how it works out in Dragon Jade.
