I am trying to work on the kidnapped wife quest but am having troubles. I go talk to her, as instructed and she says she does not want to leave. When I go back to the husband, i do not have the option to tell him that his wife wont come back, just says i need to rescue her. How do I get it to give me the option to tell the husband she wont come back so he can give the beer for her?

One of the things about the quest is that Im pretty sure, not completely, but pretty sure that certain things are tied to your personality attribute. The way I solve that is by raising personality every 5 levels or so. That way you still don't neglect strength, dex and endurance or whatever are your main traits.

I believe you need to talk to the theifs

So Is there a certain personality level or anything to get thief to talk to you? When I go there he blows me off saying to get lost

It's not personality that you need to talk to the Leader. Talk to a thief, Drann first. He's standing beside a hole, just follow the red path.

you walk the red path and talk to a guy near a hole, i think thats what activates the thief to talk to you

It's at least a 7 part puzzle. Not very straight forward. Kind of like Life Itself. LOL. I've started the game over many times. Sometimes I miss a step and I get frustrated, too. It helps if you're really lucky to get Mark and Recall early. Saves a LOT of time walking.
