Fantastic gsme, but I'm really struggling with gold, I'm playing a ranger and I can't really afford to keep paying for arrows and improving my armor and weapons. Any advice ?

Just run dungeons, selling loot you find, and complete quests. If you don't have enough gold still, you can play cards in one of the world's many inns. Just remember to save before starting and that the higher level towns have inns with higher payouts. (Matras gives like 50 max, Mithria gives I believe 500).
Also remember that you don't need to buy every SINGLE piece of equipment, especially if it is only marginally better than the piece you currently have equipped. Also, money comes easier once you get some higher-level dungeons.
