BTW- Why don't You post, in Greenlight article, links to forum and Facebook, as well as information that TQ2 is coming?

The game is basically complete. We rushed a few thing for the trailer video, but I think we can completely finish in a week or so. Which means we can release any time we get Greenlit.

I can't give you a price, because that'll depend on Valve too (I think they'll give us a recommendation). But it'll not be expensive. :)

Thank you for your hint! I somehow overlooked the Facebook link option on the Greenlight page. Now rectified.

There is no option for a website/forum link, but at this moment I don't think there is a need. Hopefully, lots of people will buy the game, and then they'll come to the forums (there is a link to the forums in the game, just like in the iPhone version). The same is true for TQ2, right now it's time to concentrate on The Quest.

Great news, can't wait to play!

You can simply add link to greenlight article, something like "come, join us on forum (TQ2 information inside!)". Same for facebook account, as most people won't notice small icon being off the main screen.

As for increase in forum members... well, it's not easy to find Redshift page actually, so advertising it a bit won't do harm.

I don't (yet) know how Steam workshop works. And the editor is currently incapable of creating expansions for the PC version. That said, if the PC version is successful enough, I'll look into making the editor work.

Ok cool! And another thing..... In the Quest II, If possible, it would be really cool if the actions of your previous character effected the world at all, even if a villager just said "Hey, have you heard about how freymore has been taken over by a crazy dictator" or "Freymore is free from teh recent plague of unfortunate events, the governer is better!," depending on your choice of the ending

Well I believe this game will be a prequel to the quest, so I don't think that would work chronologically.

As a Quest player on the iPad I am so stoked about the new graphics. I will gladly update at whatever the cost. This is such a great game, I just wish I had stumbled across it years ago. Which is how I found it. Was searching for something else and saw this, knew I had to purchase it. So glad I did. it was exactly what I wanted in a RPG/dungeon crawler game. The improved graphics will make it all the better. Thanks for creating and updating The Quest.

We need to think about that later. Unfortunately, we can't just replace the original, because the existing expansions are not compatible with the new game (and some people like the old graphics, and the new version only works with the new graphics). But having a new 'HD' version, the old plain version and Gold version will be confusing already, even with the 'HD' version being iPad only. We'll have to see.

I understand. I'm still playing the Gold version of The Quest and its expansions and will continue to do so. I love this game and it has high replay value. So I'm fine with whatever you decide. :)

We have to learn about how to do a proper Steam release (there are many options), but expect a release date in a few days at most! :D

Thank you all!

Just bought the Steam version, and it's lots of fun! However, there's a small feature from the original that I miss -- the ability to import your own character portraits.

In Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2 and the new Shadowruns adding an avatar is as easy as dropping the appropriately sized and named files into the portrait folder. But The Quest has all data in a single *.pak file.

So, is there currently a way to import your own pics, and if not, is there any chance that you'll add this option somwhere in the future?

That's by no means an important issue, the game is brilliant as it is. But having the feature back would be extra cool.

Although it's not extremely simple, but there is a relatively easy way to do that. :)

Just create the following folder hierarchy in the game's folder: "data/worlds/bres". Then put a 128x128 image in that with the following name: head01. Then change your character's face by clicking on it, and switch between the faces until you find your replacement. The image must be either in BMP or DDS format (so the full name of the file should be either head01.bmp or head01.dds).

Hi guys and congratulations for the great game. I have already purchased it on Steam but I was wondering: when the iPad version will be on the App Store?

Just bought The Quest on Steam. Thanks so much for a great game--I've been playing heaps over the last couple of days. The only difficulty I have had is knowing where my character is on the map of the area in relation to other parts of the larger area. With all the moving to and fro in combat or in exploration I get very confused and often end up heading into trouble rather than away from it. Thanks very much for adding the annotation ability for the map in the update. Now I just need to remember where each region is in relation to the others...

I'd like to say that I’m rally enjoying the Quest Gold and all the expansions I purchased for iPad. But there are a few things that are very annoying and I hope will be changed in a future patch:

1. Doors and exits in caves, crypts and, dungeons need to be clearly color-coded and marked on the map. It is extremely annoying wandering around trying to find the entrances and exits because they are black on the map like everything else. This is not fun, just annoying. Once the doors/exits are discovered, they should change color on the map for easier reference.

2. Ability to mark and add personal notes to the map. This is another feature that should have been included a long time ago. It is nearly impossible to remember every location and quest, especially when the quest journals are frequently incomplete. Allowing the player to mark and add personal notes on the map would help tremendously.

3. Ability to add notes and edit the quest journal. As noted above, many of the quest journals are vague. They are not as complete as what the NPC actually said.

Besides those few things, the game is great. I really hope you guys will look into adding these features in a future patch

Your wish has come true ;) The notes on maps feature has been added.
If you have been really too busy,
And you feel your head being dizzy,
It's recommended to have a rest,
I have a good offer-play the Quest! : )

I think Redshift plans on developing an iPad version with the new hi-res graphics and probably that would have all the nice things the PC version has--including notes on maps---but you have to give them a chance to get there. : )

Elendil is a very good programmer --and I think you'll be happy with the hi-res iPad result when they get there. But you have to give them time---just what he did with the Hi-Res PC version is enormous. If you follow the development of the PC version on Steam, you'll see that Redshift did a LOT of work to make those players happy. They'll love iPad players just as much.

Just give it time. What Elendil did with the Quest hi-res version is really awesome and so just wait. The work for each platform is a lot. You don't just push a button. : )

Thanks for the reply. I'm sure the high-res version for iPad will be awesome.

All I was asking is if the above features could be added to the current low-res iPad Quest Gold version. :) I've invested a bit of money and play time into it and all the expansions, and was hoping the map improvements could be added in a patch.

I'm worried that because of the upcoming high-res Quest iPad version, there will be no more improvements or patches for the current low-res iPad version.

Before right now, there were never any plans to update the old expansions or the base game of The Quest. Redshift was looking forward to the future. Neither you as a player or me as an expansion developer had any expectations there would be any future updates to the old Quest. So we haven't really lost anything. We have however the possibility of gaining something.

They've stepped into new ground with the hi-res version. : )

If you look at what they've done to respond to requests from players on Steam--you'll see that they've done everything they can to make the experience of playing the hi-res version satisfying.

To make the old 16 bit editor do all that stuff---and still be able to work for all the players out there---I don't know. It's not my place to answer. They're two very talented guys--I think you -- just as I --have to look to the future. The new graphics are beautiful. I think I'd give up my old ipad version now in a heartbeat.

The old engine is an old engine---just the fact that they were able to do with it what they've done in the hi-res version is amazing. Maybe they can do what you ask---but if they can't---just enjoy what you have in the old expansions, as I do.

And if they can make the expansions work in the hi-res version---for the price of a Starbucks cup of coffee? Well, I think they deserve your support. Aren't you wearing my comfy slippers? Or my Paw Protectors? You should be able to still get them if the expansions get ported and they should look super nice.

After all, I'm making a new expansion for the Quest--Cursed Stone--if I didn't think the old ios version still held a lot of satisfaction for people, I wouldn't be making it.

Even without the map notation system and all that---I have almost too many betatesters to handle. : )

I have confidence Redshift will do what they can do to make any player's experience a happy one--we still make updates to handle glitches I know--and if they can't do what you want---we all are having a great experience, even in the old 16 bit game with no map notations.

Since I'm a newcomer to The Quest (just bought the new PC version so forgive my ignorance about the game) it really does seem to me that the Redshift team is doing everything possible to make the game experience as enjoyable as possible. I had just stopped playing Might and Magic X Legacy published by the monolithic Ubisoft because the bugs that they had left that game with made gameplay very frustrating and NOT enjoyable. They are still happy to have the game on sale everywhere, but support--forget about it!
What I am trying to say is: let Redshift have the space to do the improvement work. After a long time of developing and perfecting a really good Mobile game they are still working away to make it even better. If we gamers keep complaining they will lose heart. Don't let that happen.Tell them how much we are enjoying the new version! By all means offer suggestions, but give them space.
Just my own opinion....

Thanks for a super game Redshift. Keep on doing what you are doing! :)
