The Quest - PC/iPad versionRe: The Quest - PC/iPad versionElendil said it's not possible, at least not without tremendous work. I just asked. There are too many code changes to make the new textures work in the expansions. And the new version of TQ won't apparently work on iPhone, again at least not without tremendous modifications, so that would lose us half our players anyway.
It's OK.We want them to succeed -- so whatever it is, it is. We move on. It's better if they focus on TQ2 anyway.
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionThat's too bad.

Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionI guess everybody will see how it plays out--I'm still making a new expansion for the old Quest--Cursed Stone. As i work on it I remember working on the original Quest and all our old expansions and it's a little bittersweet---but basically sweet because the Quest editor is actually a lot of fun to use--although planting flowers is getting a little old now. : ) It's a lot easier than using a 3d editor which I've become accustomed to--using Unity 3d. : )
As long as the old Quest stays on iPhone/iPad in the app store, that's good. Since we share in the revenue, I think Redshift will leave the old Quest and its expansions up, at least for awhile. They're not easy to find though because the app store defaults to iPad games on your device---you have to switch to iPhone games to find our expansions, so not sure anyone will ever find the old TQ, TQ Gold and our expansions once the new Hi-res TQ is up. I also was just thinking releasing the TQ with all the new graphics might take away from the impact of the TQ2--everybody will already have seen the new graphics---but maybe not. All this remains to see how things work out. We have to wish everything works out for Redshift--if it hadn't been for them, I'd never be making games. My first game was a little free expansion for Legacy. : ) When legacy was big. Anyway, need for cheese---you reminded me of how much fun I had playing PC games. : ) I downloaded a few now. I had already downloaded one DeMenchev recommended --Arvale II Ocean of Time--and I've been enjoying it and I'm corresponding with one of its creators. He is extraordinarily nice. I don't know how old he is but I hope he stays alive until I can send him a demo of our new Unity game-- : ) I would be very happy to get the feedback. : ) Making our new Unity game and a new Quest expansion at the same time---well..... the emoji for that would be the one with the dead eyes. : ) And the tongue sticking out. I will vote for the new TQ on Steam.
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionThere'll just be less new players of your expansions, but you can't lose any... Ok, I don't know, but we'll see
![]() Something's not right. You should try to replace that emoji with some other one with a smile. The more you enjoy making your games, the better they will be and the more I and other players will enjoy playing them (yes, even if it slows the process down very much, right? Right?). You should focus on what you can do best, of course. I don't think that the impact of the TQ2 is important at all (if it's even a thing). The Quest is fantastic and now it'll have much better graphics which will attract a LOT of new players. Seems like a win-win all around situation to me ![]() Jason is not old. Find him on Facebook ![]() Won't the new version's editor be available for everyone as always? Fan-made expansions are awesome too.
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionOK, smiling.
![]() ![]() (Edit) I just asked them about an editor. Let's see what they say.
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionI got an answer. Probably there won't be an editor for the new version. Too much work that should go into TQ2. But probably there will be one for TQ2. So let's see how things go. I'm enjoying putting in Cursed Stone with the old editor. I will vote for the new version on Steam. Life goes on.

Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionI think as the old Quest becomes more of a collector's item, there might be a new demand for new expansions--since the new version won't have any it appears---so maybe that will be interesting. It's all the same game really---I never get tired of making them. : ) Redshift gets income from our expansions so it's all good.
And I don't think I or Old Shaman have exhausted the possibilities of trying new things. : ) I think if you've ever wanted to make a Quest expansion, now is the time--I think there will be a tremendous love out there for anything that's good that keeps the old players from not quite completing their collection. : ) Someone on Touch Arcade asked if his collection of the old Quest games was complete now --and I answered not yet. : )
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionI'm looking forward to buying this on Steam--I haven't really played PC games except for Arvale recently but the graphics are so beautiful. I don't know about anyone else but I think we've all loved the Quest for the last 8 years. It really is a gem.
And Sylon's new graphics, in my humble opinion, are really beautiful. I'm looking forward to the next peek into any new, gorgeous graphics. And looking forward to when it's out.
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad version
Wow! I'm just going to work, but thank You so much for posting this title! I've been looking for it for years! I've played Arvale: Journey of Illusion on iOS few years back and couldn't find it because I forgot the title. Thanks once more!
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionWow! Great to hear that you played it too! It's the first big game in my life

Re: The Quest - PC/iPad version(Sorry for not being so active here on the forum in the last few weeks - I was very-very busy with this new version.)
Yes, at last! Another month passed, but this was the last one - The Quest's brand new hi-res version is finished! Right now we're making the movie about the gameplay and all other stuff for Steam, testing it for a while, but the hardest part of the work is done. The development was longer than we thought back in July when we started it - if you polish one thing, the other will look too dated, if you make better animations for one object or scene, all other objects and scenes will look strange. So it was almost like making a new game. Here are some screenshots from the final version: http://www.redshift.hu/QuestPC/Shots/QPC-shot29.jpg As you can see everything in the game got shadows to look even better. http://www.redshift.hu/QuestPC/Shots/QPC-shot30.jpg Please meet the brand new witch - yep, the previous witch was younger and better looking but this one's poison cloud is more dangerous. : ) http://www.redshift.hu/QuestPC/Shots/QPC-shot31.jpg The night-time lights and shadows were also polished to a more realistic feel. http://www.redshift.hu/QuestPC/Shots/QPC-shot32.jpg The card games inside the inns were also redone, of course. http://www.redshift.hu/QuestPC/Shots/QPC-shot33.jpg From now everything in the game (including all scenes like the intro sequence) got smooth animations. That's it for now, but check back soon, from now things will speed up!
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionWoohoo!
![]() I think those windows in Matras look a bit odd. Like, so empty... Maybe stain them a bit or something, though I'm not sure if making them muddy is a very good solution, but it could be. Perhaps it's just me ![]() Fantastic job! Keep it up!!! ![]()
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionCongrats, guys, you made the game come alive!
![]() If you have been really too busy,
And you feel your head being dizzy, It's recommended to have a rest, I have a good offer-play the Quest! : )
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionWill this version be available on iPhones? If not, I guess I'll have to dust off the old iPad
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionFrom what I was told, when I asked, no. So maybe dust a bit. It can't hurt.
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionLol, will do Cat
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionThank you so much for your hard work! Will there be a non- or pre-Steam (even DRM-free) version we could download?
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionThe Quest PC version is now up on Steam Greenlight!
Please vote for it (and comment ![]() Also, please tell your friends, spouses, children, dogs, cats or just random passersby; post the news wherever you can, tweet it, you name it! ![]() Thank you!
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad version
We are concentrating now on Steam (it is the most important platform, after all), but yes, we do plan to release the game on other stores too (like Good Old Games (GOG), which is completely DRM free).
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad version
Incredible news, can't wait! Could You give us ETA and estimated price? BTW- Why don't You post, in Greenlight article, links to forum and Facebook, as well as information that TQ2 is coming?
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionYou can also sell DRMfree in the humble store.
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad version
The game is basically complete. We rushed a few thing for the trailer video, but I think we can completely finish in a week or so. Which means we can release any time we get Greenlit. I can't give you a price, because that'll depend on Valve too (I think they'll give us a recommendation). But it'll not be expensive. ![]() Thank you for your hint! I somehow overlooked the Facebook link option on the Greenlight page. Now rectified. There is no option for a website/forum link, but at this moment I don't think there is a need. Hopefully, lots of people will buy the game, and then they'll come to the forums (there is a link to the forums in the game, just like in the iPhone version). ![]()
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionCan you make the monsters' attack animations a bit faster please?
Looks incredible ![]()
TOP100!We have just reached TOP100 on Greenlight!
Thanks everyone for making it possible! Please keep spreading the word, so we can continue to rise and improve our chances to get onto Steam! ![]()
Re: The Quest - PC/iPad versionQuick Question....... If you make enough money on steam can you add support for steam workshop?! We could have all of our expansions then! I understand it may take a while, with the Quest 2, but maybe it could be a side project
