Having A LOT Of trouble

Just started playing and am already having a ton of trouble. Every time I go south to I to vestares, a ton of muggers and archers come out and kill me. I have tried many times with no luck. Any tips? I am desperate.

You are probably venturing too far, too fast. Have you gone to the cemetery yet? The skeletons are pretty easy to kill there and will help you gain exp points so you can level up. You just have to choose your battles carefully, make sure you have full health/mana before getting into a fight (drink potions during fights to restore), make sure all your armor and weapons are equipped and in good repair, and sometimes you just have to run! Stick around Matras for a bit, there are a few quests you can work on there, earn some money, pick flowers & make potions, get better armor etc. don't forget you can sleep to heal (if you have food & water). Poison them (with an enchanted weapon) and move around. For getting close up to archers you have to get them in front of a bush they can't shoot through; they will move in right left right left. Bring healing potions.

And save every time you kill a monster or move 20 spaces. At night and when it's raining sleep, the visibility is not very good.
