Re: mage: spells potions enchantingI'm not familiar with playing as a mage or what they start with as equipment. I would imagine that trying to melee with magic only, in the beginning would be tough. Some one can correct me if I'm wrong but I would think the best way to survive early on is to use the starting money to buy the best armor and weapons you can afford and stay close to town. Magic early on is pretty weak and you don't have alot of spell points. Again, stay close to town kill a couple of monsters and then head for the inn. If you are getting destroyed by ranged attacks, get in close and go toe to toe. If you are being ganged up on, use objects to your advantage. Stand next to some trees, keep your back up against a wall. If all else fails, kill one or two then run away.

Re: mage: spells potions enchanting
I've played as a battlemage for all of the quest campaigns, all you have to do is change your specialties to heavy armor and heavy weapons, and keep the spells, don't bother stayin close to town because the spells you'll have are all you'll need, just buy a create food spell, mark and recall, and magic missile to add to your burning hand (rasvim would be best battlemage Race btw) and then go crazy, for the main campaign a rasvim battlemage is nearly invincible, or at least that's how I remember it
Re: mage: spells potions enchanting@Drakilian,
That is very helpful information. I hope to try playing with many different character combinations. As a noob to The Quest myself, I have already played through the main game (no expansions yet) with 3 different characters. Just to get a feel for some of the different combo's. My first run through was half-assed and experimental. I really didn't like the character I had, but wanted to play through to know the story line and quests for the second go. My suggestion was very generic, attempting to let Cooljoey22 at least live a little longer and maybe sneak a level up or two in there and get a better feel for how the game is played on the basic level, the mechanics. Thanks for the advice! ![]() I may not be fast, but I am constant.
Re: mage: spells potions enchantingRasvim? That's good to know. I've always wanted to play a Rasvim all the way through, but the way they are treated makes it hard. Plus them not being able to eat regular food. So I started over as something else. But now I know what Class to play as a Rasvim. I'll try that next time.
