Long spit

Is there an alternative to killing the chief? It looks like there should be a different way of resolving who is killing the kids but when I ask around I don't get any alternatives. Do I need a higher persuasion or something to get him to admit to it or is there something I need to do first?

If you mean the "Kill the goblin chief" quest, I think the only way to kill him is the poisoning.

If you have the Hammer of Witch's and you haven't killed the witch queen, the goblin chief will turn into the witch queen and steal the hammer.
