"Bring the forum back to life"

Postby wolf3167 » Sat Dec 28, 2013 10:01 pm

I've been playing TQ since it first released and messed with Legacy a bit too. I've been active on the forums for more than a year now and really like them even if the forums themselves aren't anything special. Anyways, it seems like the forums have had some serious ups and downs in user activity but I think that we, as players and users of the forum, should try to keep it high! My contribution is my "The Quest Blog" which you can check out under "Guides".
What I'm proposing is that people post guides on things not just in the main game/ Ice and Fire. People shouldn't have to ask for help on all these quests, but since we have such a small community, most of the forum is cluttered with miscellaneous questions about small details on side quests because there are no guides for them!
I know we have Cat's forum, but really, this is the forum dedicated to the game! People that play it on their iDevices and click the "Forum" button are going to be brought here and I think we should make it welcoming to them. Agreed?

(PS to Cat: I'm not trying to hate on your forum, I'really like it and will have to join sometime!)

While I agree I think the forum is fine as it is. New people come here and ask quick questions. Then some of them become active users and are here to answer new peoples questions when they come along in the future. So it's like a cycle and I think it works well. I can definitely say I was one of those new people that asked a lot of questions and then started answering new peoples questions because of the knowledge I got
from my nooby questions.

I wish the forum was more active though. I'm sure when redshift comes out with their new games, it will start boomin here!

I have been thinking the same thing wolf and was wanting to say it, but didn't really know how to word it. I have also made a small guide to contribute. You guys can check it out under guides, basic tutorial.

As a long-time forumite, I know there's always a lull between new games or expansions. It's natural. The cure for the lull is a new game or expansion. In the meantime, it helps if forumites chat or do their guides or blogs.

Like everything else in life, forums have their cycles.

Elemental Asteroids, our new expansion, should be in the app store soon and that should cause some chatter. : )

And keep in mind, that if you really want to help a developer of an iPhone/iPad game, your posts in their threads at TouchArcade is what helps them keep their game in the forefront of players who are curious about rpg games and who might then come here.

It all starts at TouchArcade. Search the Quest and say something. Or search the expansions. : )

http://toucharcade.com

I've been lax about posting there but I've been busy.

TouchArcade is the forum that really advertises and sells the games and then people come here or to my place as well if they need help.

What you're saying is maybe TouchArcade needs some activity. That's where you can attract new players and new forumites who of course will be stuck somewhere. : )

It's good to see you guys/girls are working on bringing back some life to this forum - there was time (back in 2006-2010) when all Redshift-related forums on the net were full of life but now these games are 'old' for the massive gaming community. Just keep up the good work here - we are also working now on games which will bring new attention to this forum in 2014.
So thanks for all - and of course a Happy New Year! : )

I'll probably be popping in more often. I started a new game as a mage a week or so ago, and he is determined to become a master of all magic schools including alchemy. My last character was a thief who, although cunning and crafty, was completely uneducated and ignorant when it came to the arcane arts. Don't know about a blog, but I might try to post a guide or something about my learnings later on.

You might want to make him a battle Mage, b/c attack magic loses effectiveness around hol1.

Haha, yea I've all heard about the magic resistant monsters in later expansions, but, as I said, I've never really witnessed it firsthand as I was roleplaying a thief on my old main game. But of course I'll be carrying a staff, and I'll have protective magic, so it won't be too hard, but I guess I'll just see for myself

I suppose i'm in the minority here as i have just started playing 'quest Gold'' (ios on iphone) Had never heard of it before and only found it by a random search on google.
Loving it and looking forward to future titles.

You got to understand these are indie rpgs. Usually most people are into fast-paced action who anyone can get through with reflexes and fairly simple tactics. With oldschool rpg players like myself, we not only want the game to be as brutal as possible, but we deeply get into the story/characters and tactics too.
The People who care about these games will always be here supporting but usually not as many people know about indie rpgs as you would think.

So bringing the forum back to life would take 1 thing-new game. Thats how all indie companies work usually. The games are great and I havent even finished all of them yet. Something that needs to be rectified.
