Hello. I just started playing The Quest (played Legacy forever ago on PocketPC). I keep getting killed by archers outside the first area. Do I stay in the starting area for awhile and build up gear and levels or what? Thanks.

Definitely stay in town doing quests, or fight some weaker enemies in the graveyard.

Enemies will only respawn in areas that you haven't been in for 7 in-game days, so it might be easier if you kill a few enemies, go back to town and heal up, then return to kill more enemies. Keep doing that until they're all dead. If you're having trouble killing a single enemy, try completing other quests to level up more.

• Get better armor or try enchanting your gear.
• Stock up on health potions.
• Try using spells that paralyze your enemy
• Save every time you kill an enemy
• Keep multiple saves as back-ups incase you make a mistake or something goes wrong
• Play cards at the inns for some quick gold (Depends on your skill at cards; save after every win)

Yes, as Frodo said above, you want to be prepared before you leave. That being said, I'm pretty sure you should be able to kill an archer even at level 1. Have you geared up at all?

Talk to as many people in town as possible. Do quests such as 'Burgle for Mayana' or the quests you get from the innkeeper and the governor and spend it on your armour first as the armour capacity (AC) will be one of the most important factors in early game!!

AC= Armor Class

Oh, by the way, if you don't have environmental magic as a chosen skill, START OVER NOW! You will thank me later. Also, if you use attack or healing magic, start over as well. They are ineffective/inefficient and can be replaced with more valuable skills.

Ummm, yes you will. Your chosen skills are super important

Nah, not after level 30ish, but for your first play through, you may as well optimize your character at least a little.
