I would like to make a feature request that all the portraits used in the game would be selectable by the player for use on his/her character. Some of this artwork is just amazing! It is a shame that only a few of the NPCs use these beautiful portraits and thus they are only seen and appreciated a few times by the players. Thank you for a beautiful game, and thank you for porting this over to the iPhone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are not selectable because it would look strange if your character had the same portrait as an NPC you are talking to. However, on PC/Mac you can use all portraits. Find the "data.pak" file in the game's folder. Make a copy and rename (the copy) to data.zip. You can open it with any zip utility (even with explorer on windows or finder on mac). The NPC portraits are in the "worlds/bres" and "worlds/base" folders. You can then copy/rename the portrait images for use by the by following this guide: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4471 (It only talks about .bmp files for simplicity's sake, but .dds works too.) (Of course these files are to be used by only yourself, they are not to be redistributed.) We'll think about letting you chose them in the game.

I know that some people might think it is strange, but I think that the fans can live with that. They are such beautiful portraits, after all.
I only have the game for my iPhone, not PC at this time. Thank you for the tip with the PC version...but I absolutely despise with every fiber of my being the Steam client (and I am not alone among gamers, I think), and I refuse to support the developers of that lag-monster of a malware program. If you were selling the game on GOG or via your own private download client or website, then I would probably buy it for PC just to support Redshift, even if I hadn't planned on playing it on PC. But, as far as I am aware at this time, that is not the case. So, I will not be buying or playing the game for PC version.

GOG unfortunately refused to sell the game. However, we'll explore other stores. Just keep an eye on our website, or follow us on Twitter or Facebook and you'll know when.

GOG refused to sell the game??? WTF???!! That doesn't make any sense, I thought that their whole thing was selling old games. Didn't GOG used to be an abbreviation for Good Old Games? They usually support indie developers, as well. I'm sorry to hear about that. But I still wont buy from valve. Until they decide to do something about that lagware they call a game client, I cannot support them. Regardless of selling and production drama, I appreciate you looking into making all the portraits available to the player. Thanks.

GOG said this about the game: "it appears to be too niche for our users". It was just a form email. Nowadays they don't care about a game being old or indie. They only care about whether they think it will make lots of money or not.

The checkbox is missing on iOS, sorry. A new update has already been submitted to Apple. If you don't want to wait for it, the option is there in the config file ("canSelectNPCFaces"), but you'd have to copy it to your computer using iTunes, edit with a text editor (set it to "true") and copy it back.

The update just came through! Thanks again for listening. It was a smart move to make the NPC face selection optional through a setting. It subtly tells the player that they might meet someone that looks like them. Thanks again.

Where exactly is this option? I installed the latest patch and still don't see the option. Perhaps it has something to do with me manually editing the game as Elendil instructed before the patch was released on iOS??

It's on the "Options" screen, in Settings. (It definitely doesn't matter whether you've edited the config file or not.)
