does any one know how to successfully escape prison and also what is up with all the cracked walls later in the game can you break them with a weapon or a spell?

It's a bit different for every prison, but generally you'll need to be able to open a locked door (with picklocks for example) and then look around carefully.

The cracks are just decoration.
