POSSIBLE SPOILERS

I am stuck on the quest to join the Thieves Guild.

I was given a mission to rob a wealthy family within a week.

I got sidetracked. It's possible that more than a game-week has passed.

However, the status indicators for both the robbery quest and join thieves quest are exclamation points (in progress), not x's (failed).

I did the robbery, but can't find the thieves.

Google indicated that I should use the thieves' key on a lamppost. The quest log also mentions a lamp, but not a key.

I can't find the lamppost, nor do I have that key.

I think that I recalled out of the thief hideout - I have no memory of where an exit is.

Google also indicated that, with no key, I could enter the sewers through sort of a manhole, and make my way to the thieves.

I can't find the sewers entrance. Maybe it doesn't appear until I finish the quest.

I would love directions of the following nature:

Is there a key involved?

If so, I may be unable to finish the quest. Would that mean that I can't finish the main quest?

Stand directly in front of the entrance to the inn in Vastares port quarter.

Proceed 3S 2E 1N 4W 2S

Where, of course, 4W means to move 4 squares west.

I just made up the above directions, just as an example.

I am afraid to pursue other in-game activities, for fear that the quest will expire.


Any help appreciated.

You can rob the family at any time (if you want to).

If you have that quest, you can also go back to the thieves at any time.

If you don't rob the family (or are late with it) the thieves might be displeased... But you can proceed in the usual way, then. (By killing all of them, I mean. )
