Hi folks,

I want to start the quest that he is supposed to give you, going by the guides here. But he doesn't mention anything about witches, just says 'what do you want', and 'we should throw you in the pit' etc.

Is there anything I need to do first?

Hey jack,

You are talking to the wrong goblin. Go to the pit In the east village and go into the house of waheetu. He will tell you from there.

I tried the 'Goblin Villager' near the pit I didn't think to try a house. And when I saw the other goblin with slightly similar name....
