Grandfathers sword

I haven't discarded it but is the grandfather sword important?

Does it have yellow text? I forgot. If you have a yellow text "quest important" item you don't want, ditch it on a PERMENANT storage shelf. You don't have to deal with it, but you have it if it becomes vital.

keep it enchant it it's a nice weapon which you get for free!
You have 20 save slots use them all. Save after every quest, save before going into a dungeon, save, save save!!

The Grandfather Sword is lost upon completion of entering the Elf City from the portal, so don't waste any money on enchanting it, as all of it will be wasted!

... Lol wasted 5000 gold... But its a price to pay if I'm only lvl 18... And it ups my magic resistance

So I have been playing the add-on as a standalone, but created my own character (after failing with low persuade at first and restarting) I have played through and teleported to the elf city on mission to kill the queen. I found her palace, broke in, killed all the guards, and tried to pick the second door. "Very good" chance, but burnt through 2 master picks with no luck. Exited, bought more picks, re-entered, still couldn't pick it and now can't find a way out. Town portal doesn't work and I forgot to mark anywhere. Any help? I also don't have 1 M gold to pay the old elf.
