Expansion Order

Postby wolf3167 » Tue Nov 27, 2012 1:22 am

I have been planning on creating a new character and playing through the following in this order:
Cursed Chess Set Or Celtic Rift
If played CCS then play Celtic Rift then Celtic Queen.
Then, play the core game.
Next, going to Ice and Fire
Then playing through Mithril Horde's and HOL 1-5 mixed together along with Lost Archipelagos and te Asteroid expansions.

So:
1- what is a good playstyle for this( race, 6 primaries)
2- Is this a good idea? I realize that after a while I'll become probably 5+ levels overpowered but are all these expansions worth playing through? Please answer ASAP. Thanks

You should play the early parts around Matras in the base game before you go to any expansions. If you want to weave that with the expansions, then Cursed Chess Set or Celtic Rift would be a good choice. You can have more than one save file and can visit an old location in an expansion as long as you mark there. I think your plan is a good one. You'd be ready for HOL I after Ice and Fire. it's a tough expansion. : )

Arcipelagoes has way over powered weapons so once you go there you are basically saying you're just playing for the fun. We (Zarista Games) didn't make Archipelagoes but I helped fix some bugs and I know you'll be really overpowered after going there so maybe save that for last.

Thanks I've been a big fan of The Quest for some time now but never played all the expansions. My goal though is to be a little bit overpowered so I can focus more on the story lines instead of fighting for my life;)

By the way, do you (Cat or anyone) know anything about the balancing of Cursed Chess Set as well as a few other expansions? If CCS is for level 1ish characters then it just seems interesting that all the gear I get (Staunton Staff for example) is of much better quality than I can find even in Mithria? But what I really don't understand is that if I go back to say the Sunken Monastery the staff seems hardly better than my average gear. Don't get me wrong, though, CCS is my favorite ever addon for any game: better (to me) than Shivering Isles for Oblivion. I'd just feel better understanding how this works.
