Re: THE QUEST 2When the tq2 is ready, I really want to be a beta tester. Just wanted to get that out there way before its too late.
Hail Mersant!
Re: THE QUEST 2Okay, Mangoose, you'll be on our list. : )
As for the Android version: yes, probably it will happen someday, it will just depend on Stewe's time, he is the Android guy now at Redshift. And no, there will be no Android port from TQ, at least not in the near future - we are developing new games nowadays. Probably one day Stewe will port it to Android but now he has to do other works for living so he can develop games only in his spare time.
Re: THE QUEST 2Sweet! Also thank you to everyone at redshift for making great games, and for spending your free time making games so that other people can have fun!
Hail Mersant!
Re: THE QUEST 2I just had a great idea. What if you could have a companion like a pet or something to fight with you in the quest 2. It could be on the same tile as you, much like when 2 enemies are attacking you from the same tile. I don't know if this would be possible, but I just wanted to get the thought out there.
Re: THE QUEST 2You will have companions, yes, but mostly people and summoned demons. : ) The game will have a party-based system like Quest's prequel (Legacy) had, and in this party you (the main character) will have the possibility to get stable party members and also companions who will just go/fight with you only for a while (only for a mission or for a fight). So hang on, this game will have a plenty of good things! : )
Re: THE QUEST 2I'm SO EXCITED for this game! I still play The Quest and love it as much as I did when I first played it. When this comes out, I'll have The Quest AND The Quest 2 to play!..

Re: THE QUEST 2Are you still taking people for the beta? I would love to participate if it's possible
![]() "This won't stop your soul from getting ripped out, but at least you'll look good when your corpse hits the ground."
Re: THE QUEST 2Of course we'll take testers - it's a long development and we'll need many of them around the end of this year. So it's not actual yet, but will be. : )
About the game itself: yes, I already completed the story and we discussed many of the new functions, but we'll not reveal too much info about it now, sorry, I hope you can understand that. : ) It's not the direct continuation of The Quest's main storyline, but you'll meet some familiar cities, places and people, including Mersant himself - because this time your main hero will be the King himself!
Re: THE QUEST 2Wait, so I'd meant is the main hero, does it take place in beraquel? How will there be familiar cities of its there? Also, the party stuff sounds awesome!
Hail Mersant!
Re: THE QUEST 2Hi all, although i'm new to The Quest games, i'm already excited about TQ2. What changes are planned (if any) regarding controls, graphics, and the map? Anyway, keep up the good work, i'll be buying the expansions on the app store soon
![]()
Re: THE QUEST 2Yes, it will take place in the same gaming world (including Beraquel from Legacy), but this time you can travel around in a much bigger continent. (The Quest's Freymore seems just like a small island in this world. : )
Game changes: the main change will be the party-based game system, and if I'll have time I would like to bring back Legacy's very cool clothing system in the inventory. : ) There will be many other changes too of course (for example the story itself has a serious twist right at the start which also needs some modifications here and there), but these are not perfectly fixed yet so I can't tell you much more now. The Quest has a very complex game system and we'll build in all good or bad experience we had with it in the past years, trying to pushing out an even more polished game. (One of the "bad" experiences is that it's a hardcore RPG system with not much help for the beginners so now there will be more - optional - help inside the game. We don't want to put that much work again in a game which will simply not reach enough people.)
Re: THE QUEST 2One of the main things that i like about TQ (over the million other rpg's out there), is it's difficulty. It can be tough, but with that difficulty comes a sense of achievement that is lacking in many games. I understand that making it more appealing to a wider audience requires making it 'easier', but it would make it less appealing to someone like me. Does anyone else feel the same?
Re: THE QUEST 2Don't worry, we know this problem and we're keeping this in mind during the development. The game itself will not be easier, but will have more options for help - which you can choose or not choose, it's up to you. Also the game will have three main "levels", the main level will mean the story itself, which will be not easy but easy enough to give fun and the feel of satisfaction to a wider audience. The second level means most of the sidequests - they will be harder (but some of them you'll need to be strong enough throughout the game). While the third level will be the really hardcore thing, exactly for those like you - these things will not be necessary for getting to the game's end but they will contain unique items, quests, hard to meet people, various story endings, experimenting with different skills or with new functions, etc. So we're trying to balance things to reach a good but serious RPG where almost everyone can find their fun.
So all in all, it will be a hardcore RPG, not the typical one you can see in the AppStore. : ) It will be more complex and bigger than TQ but still will have more options, levels and help. Last time I forgot to reply to your question about the graphics: TQ2 will have high resolution art which will look perfectly even on bigger (like full HD) screens. Much more polished animations (for example the spells will not be simply hand drawn, this time I'm using the help of a tool to make them). As for the textures, TQ had 256*256 pixel textures with 8bit (256) colors while TQ2 has 768*768 ones with 32bit (millions of) colors. The graphic engine will have more 3D elements, not just the simple cube-shaped blocks as houses, while the plants, monsters, decoration elements, items etc. will again be 2D sprites. (And don't worry about using "oldschool" sprites - for example, this time a tree has 2000 pixels of height with millions of colors so it will look more detailed than an average 3D model.) TQ2 will also have shops, inns, taverns etc. so you can step inside various buildings where you can meet the classic 2D animated art, just for the good old oldschool feeling. The variation of everything you can meet and see will be much better, about 4x-5x than TQ had. That's what I can say now - we're trying to make the best oldschool RPG you can find on the market. : )
Re: THE QUEST 2It all sounds very exciting. Regarding your last sentence, i think you'll succeed. I bought Quest gold (iphone) only a few days ago now and it's already one of my favourite rpg's. Keep up the good work

Re: THE QUEST 2This is going to be a truly amazing game! I'm so excited for this!! The Quest was truly amazing, so this game will be out-of-this-world!!

Re: THE QUEST 2Hi there. I'm a fan of TQ (it was probably first game I installed after buying iPhone
![]() 1. Is it actually sequel, or... prequel? If we're going to impersonate Mersant, I can't think of him starting as level 1 hero, wearing rusty chainmail and lacking pants ![]() 2. Are there plans to let player influence world on global level? Taxes, policies, etc.? Or at least quests having potential to change the world (like destroying or creating cities, thing like that)? 3. Will Freymore be accesible as part of this "bigger world"? And if not, maybe in expansion pack? 4. Is any map of TQ universe available? And if there isn't, could we see one? 5. Could we see some screenshot(s) from new TQ? Of course I understand it's still under development, but it would be great to see how new graphic style will look like. 6. When TQ2 is planned to be released? This year, next? Thanks in advance, I'm waiting impatiently!
Re: THE QUEST 2Well I can only answer 6, it will be out the later part of the year
Re: THE QUEST 2Mangoose: of course it will correctly scale on every possible screen. iPads will mean no problem.
Abstractcolors: thanks for the nice words! : ) Mixxer: 1. It's more of a sequel, but not perfectly. It's an independent story with some of the key members and places of Legacy and The Quest. The Quest had two possible endings so we can't make a new game with both startings because they are so totally different... Or just simply say it's the continuation of the "good ending", starting a few years after TQ's story, if it's OK for you. : ) Don't worry about Mersant's clothes, he will fit perfectly into the story and into the world - I can't say more about that because that would be a big spoiler, sorry. 2. No, there are no such plans. But anything can happen, who knows... If we have time, we'll see. (The story is not about Mersant ruling the world so taxes, politics, etc. would have nothing to do with it.) As for destroying and building things in the world - we'll see. It's a matter of time. 3. No, Freymore will not be part of the main world because then we would have to rebuild the whole continent of TQ with TQ2's new engine. But Freymore will be on the "big" map, that's for sure. 4. No (sorry for so many "no" : ), there is no official maps, only the one you can check within the games' editor. I hope you know that there is an editor for both Legacy and The Quest. 5. ...And again no, there are no screenshots yet. The new graphic engine is not done yet so we can't make screenshots. I'm drawing now all the graphic stuff, the first half of them are done. (Mostly textures, plants, NPC faces, shops.) The graphic style will be hand drawn, I mean the classic one, not that trendy childish "manga" style which I strongly dislike. : ) Imagine The Quest in a much better quality, better lighting/shadow effects, better animations, etc. 6. The closest release date will be this Christmas. Thanks for the questions!
Re: THE QUEST 2One of my favorite things about The Quest games are the handdrawn graphics..I had never seen a game like that, and when I discovered this game, and saw the graphics, I knew this was a game I'd be playing awhile..I still am!!

Re: THE QUEST 2I don't understand all the talk about the game being difficult, honestly. As long as you take things slowly you should rarely die. If anything I would like to see the sequel being at least a little harder in the combat department.
Re: THE QUEST 2I didn't find it difficult..My strategy is to have good enchanted armor, a strong weapon(s), (in my case, sword & bow/arrow, which I have both enchanted) and the right moves on the battleground. The strategy of movement on the battleground is a big part in combat.

Re: THE QUEST 2Re: wolf's and abstractcolors last 2 comments. I guess the reason i find TQ difficult is because of the style i play the game. I like to almost play rpg's 'backwards'. I grind an awful lot on enemies alot higher level than me, for a long time, and then after gaining a very high level i go through the game from the start ( as any level 1 player would). And yes, i'm expecting lot's of comments of criticism regarding my playing style, but the great thing about great rpg's is that they allow each player to choose their own way of playing! And, i've never complained about difficulty, i have merely commented on it (infact i have openly welcomed it).
Re: THE QUEST 2Rule #1 of this game: don't power level.
Rule #2: Save often Rule #3: Enchant your gear. Rule #4: NEVER use attack magic! Soon I will post a guide with a LOAD of tips pertaining to character creation and gameplay that should make any quester's job easier! It will be based off of about 300 hours of game time. And Sylon, I look forward to writing a blog/walk through for the sequel!
