Cross Play + More Questions

Hey Everyone,

First off, I would like to say to the Redshift Team.. AWESOME WORK on The Quest. I've been an RPG fan for years going back to Pen and Paper times (in which i still enjoy playing from time to time) to C64 and Amiga 500 days playing Dungeon Crawlers like Bloodwynch and having to map everywhere you go with grid paper so you don't get lost. I have to say The Quest is certainly keeping me very busy every free moment I have.

I did purchase The Quest on PC and also the original version (GOLD) on iOS and then also bought the HD Version on iOS as well and decided to start playing the HD version which looks amazing.

My question to anyone here and also to the Redshift team is, is it possible to do what some devs are incorporating into their games the option of cross play where you can play on you mobile/ios device, save your game upload it to the cloud and then switch to your PC and continue to play on that and when your done save again and while your out and about continue to playing on your mobile device once again?

Another question I have is, is it possible to use your save game from the HD version and load it The Quest standard version and continue and play the extra DLC addon's, as the HD version of The Quest at this stage only has the base game and Fire & Ice only available at this time.

I can see on the iOs version when you access your phone's apps you can do a back up and copy the save game to your PC. So i thought i'd ask the question if the same save game could be used and loaded into the The Quest standard edition (GOLD) and continue where you left off.

Thanks in advance for any feedback anyone might have. I'll get back to playing my Seiry Thief (thought i'd try this race out as not many people have / are using this build and I may say it is certainly a great challenge as their resistance to magic is REALLY LOW! lol)

Save games are compatible between all the new versions. So you can use play the same character on PC and on iOS, using The Quest HD. You'd need to copy the saves by hand.

The PC version uses Steam Cloud saves, while the Android version uses Google Play Games (Google Cloud saves). This means that saves are automatically copied between devices on the same platform. But of course Steam Cloud has nothing to do with Google Cloud, so it doesn't work between platforms. Similarly, it wouldn't work with iCloud, were it implemented on iOS (I might get around implementing it, but not in the near future).

I know at least one player who used a third party cloud provider to sync the saves between his Android device and PC. Unfortunately you can't do that with iOS, as sandboxing prevents other programs accessing The Quest's save files. So your only option is manual save copying.

Saves are not compatible between the old and the new versions. You might get a save created in The Quest Gold to work on the PC or in The Quest HD (provided you haven't been to any expansion not released for those versions), but it definitely won't work going the other way.

Thank you Elendil for the quick answers.

So at the very least i can copy my save from my ios device and load it to manually onto my PC and play the Steam Version and then once I'm done i'll copy it back to the iPhone and continue playing while im out and about.

Also thanks for clarifying the HD and Standard(Gold) versions saves don't go backwards. I decided to play the HD version over the Standard GOLD so when I'm finished with the base game i can at the very least continue and play Ice & Fire HD.

My only other question regarding this then is are there plans to bring all the current Standard version Extra DLC Expansions to HD? I'm guessing you are but it takes time converting everything to HD format? As there are so many Expansions on the Standard I only hope that they also come out also in HD so i can continue to enjoy playing once i have finished both the base and Ice & Fire
