playing like thief

Postby ulvaryl » Tue Feb 07, 2017 2:14 am

I have base android version and tried to do some thievery activities...

Thing is the only action I was able to do so far was pickpocket.
How do I do anything else? Im not able to break into any house. Clicking/attacking any door didnt do anything so far, both with beginner lockpick and skeleton key.
Am I missing anything or its because of my android version of the game? Reading random pages shows that people are breaking into houses...

Another question: whats the use of both lockpick and disarm skills if you can handle both with mana and environmental magic?
If i cant break into any house, is stealth skill usage only for pickpocket? Are you able to pickpocket anything worth the trouble?

While im asking newb questions: is my version of game also reason why I cant create robot oil potion? Adding ingredients shows only standard potions available.

The Android version is exactly the same as the other versions.

You can't break into all houses, however to break into any house you must do so at night. There are also a few other valuable things which will come your way if you play a thief. ;) (Nothing very major, admittedly, playing as a thief is a flavor, not a completely different playstyle.)

Also admittedly disarm is not that useful in the base game (or as far as I can remember in Islands of Ice and Fire).

Robot Oil is only available in Zarista Games' expansions (or at least one of them). Blame guide writers for not clarifying it. :)

Thx for clarification!

How about lockpick? Is there any place where magic unlock wont work and you need skill?

I am playing as thief (race Seiry) as I thought it would have a lot more benefits, but in the end the best thing you can do is steal stuff from everyone you see without too much hassle, you can also disarm pretty much anything so you don't accidentally trigger off traps on doors etc.

I do have to say the poor little thief is at a disadvantage with his negative spell resistance and strength and personality penalties.

I can certainly say that playing as Siery / thief is a great challenge as they are not that strong and very weak to magic with very low resistance at the start and you'll need to boost them up with magic resistant items. They are best suited for light armor and light weapons as their recommended base attributes are both Dexterity and Intelligence which i recommend you add +2 on each everytime you level up with the extra thrown into edurance so that you can take more hits and also increase you base resistances.

Its not a very complicated to play as Thief / Seiry but when i started playing and reading on the forums here there were not many people playing it so i thought it more so of a challenge to try him out compared to the other races and types which many other people have been playing.

At the moment im currently level 21 and have enjoyed playing as a thief.

played a bit, I think im gonna create final character: undead thief while maintaining high criminal record. It will make it more like playing nosferatu in VTMB. A bit cheating as unlock and disarm will come from magic, pickpocket will be raised by trainers.

Truthfully, I never saw a real benefit in playing solely as a theif because it's just not worth it. As stated above, unlock and disarm can be accomplished with spells. Plus, if I wanted to bump up my stealth skill in order to do some pickpocketing I'll just enchant a robe and increase it for the time being (a robe from Mithria will increase it up to 40 extra skill points).
