Will there ever be any additional races/characters/classes/player portraits added to the game or in expansions?

No. This would be something invoplving changing the game engine which will never happen. Only expansions will be made but no stuff like races.

Only expansions will be made but no stuff like races. You have 20 save slots use them all. Save after every quest, save before going into a dungeon, save, save save!!
