We are in the thieves guild is the private area? Is it the door where the spikes are? And if so how do I get in there?

If you have a problem with battling any monster, try paralyze. Also enchant your gear with ac, strength, endurance. Drink fortify melee potions or fortify magic potions if you're using magic. Mark and recall out if necessary.
