Restoring Quest & Expansion Saves

Postby Jack King » Thu Oct 17, 2024 4:57 pm

Device ID: IPhone 15 Pro Max
Device OS: IOS 18.0.1

I’ve gone and accidentally deleted my Quest HD main game which had all the Zarista Expansions enabled.

I re-downloaded the Quest HD and all the expansions.

I then restore my Save Games (I was on HOLIV at Level 79) into Quest Documents folder using Itunes (luckily I had a backup of my Saves).

However, when I fire up Quest HD and load any of my Saves (which register correctly as Saved games in Quest HD) it completely crashes the app.

Any ideas? I don’t particularly want to start all over again.

Have you reenabled all the expansions?

Also, I can only play expansions and The Quest main app separately (though obviously, it cannot load my Save files.

I also have a Save for ‘My House in Mithria’ but main app crashes even when I try to load this.

I recommend deleting all the apps, redownloading them and then enabling all expansions again. Make sure you completely exit the main game before enabling an expansion (by bringing up the app switcher and "flicking" the screen for the game off screen). After enabling an expansion the main game should write "XY expansion has been enabled..." which need to be OKd. After everything is redownloaded and enabled, transfer your saves and try them again.

I have done:-
1) Deleted The Quest HD
2) Redownloaded Quest HD
3) Redownloaded Expansions
4) Went into each Expansion and enabled it in the Main game. Each time, I made sure the main game was closed. Each time , XYZ expansion confirmed it WAS enabled in Main game.

Did the above and still same thing happens.

OK! Now Working!

I purchased every single expansion BUT although I thought I downloaded them all, I was missing Islands of Fire and Ice. Downloaded and enabled this and now working OK.

Thank you for your help.

This was weird though as I was playing HOLIV and had no Saves or weapons from IOF&I

When the game saves it notes all expansions which are enabled. If then you try to load that save when not al of those expansions are enabled, it quits.

(The alternative would be to track all items/quests/areas visited/etc. from which expansion they came. Maybe it would be a good idea, maybe not. It's not something we have the time to make work. This is unfortunately the reality, we are (I am :) ) finite and we can't do everything which might be a good idea.)

That’s fine. You guys already do such an amazing job with The Quest. For me, it’s one of the greatest games ever.
