I went back to the main game for a bit, and then came back to complete some more quests here, and I'm stuck - after leaving the first dungeon, the jailer doesn't bring me to the king like he did initially, and he blocks my way out. Any tips/insight here?

Already been answered. Tap the wall to your right as you face the jailor.
